This 2015-16 season was someones first and could be someones last season in North America so I've written a very brief review about the very best Latvian hockey players who have played in North American hockey leagues in 2015-16 season. In 2015-16 NHL season have played 3 Latvian hockey players which is highest number since 2011-12 NHL season where also three Latvians played at least one game. I wouldn't say that quantity is quality but this NHL season was more of a disappointment than a joy and the fact that contracts for all three players with NHL teams has ended. It's just a coincidence of course but that adds more anxiety about the future. And first time since 2008-09 AHL season in at least one AHL game has played 5 Latvian hockey players, from far away 2008-09 AHL season all 5 Latvian players at some moment played in NHL.
If it seems that I have slept for some months because I haven't posted any improvements of my hockey trading card improvements then you're mistaking. I'm trading a lot in Upper Deck e-Pack and last weeks in SportsCardForum also has been good. So here are newest additions to my personal hockey trading cards are:
The construction of an AHL roster is complex and confusing. It is not as simple as compiling the best 22 players available and has to take into account the, sometimes competing, objectives of player development and winning hockey games. There are rules to regulate how many veteran players that teams can have on their roster and there are rules that restrict teenagers from playing in the league.
There are players under an existing contract, there are restricted free agents, there are unrestricted free agents. There are players on their entry-level contracts, AHL contracts, NHL contracts, and tryout contracts.
So, yes; there is a lot of information to consider when putting together an AHL roster for the season. We’ve compiled some information to help make the summer a little easier to understand.
The following article is a re-post from Utica Comets homepage which I found very useful to myself and I think it'll be useful for you too.
